Full-time Ph.D. Student in Networked Systems

We are interested in a variety of hot topics in the area of networking such as: Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Internet routing, Internet architecture, enterprise and data-center networks, cloud computing, security and Internet measurements. We try as much as possible to combine theory (e.g., algorithms) and practice (e.g., systems implementation).

We are looking for talented new members with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) with top performance in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or a related field). The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of existing networking technologies (e.g., routing & transport protocols), have good programming skills, and should be proficient in areas such as network algorithms, big-data processing, distributed systems, graph theory or optimization. Successful candidates are expected to work towards a doctoral degree by conducting original highly competitive scientific research, publishing the results in top conferences and scientific journals, as well as participating in the teaching activities of the group. German language skills are not required, but fluency in English is mandatory. The position is available starting from February 2015 or later.
