The Western Asset Management (Structures) team has responsibility and accountability for all Structures assets on Western Route, including Bridges, Tunnels, Culverts, Retaining Walls and Sea Defences. In total the team is responsible for approximately 10,000 structures assets in the South West. The Team is the source of structural advice to other departments and project teams within the route.
The Role requires the Application of Structures Asset Management Processes for the Severn area (Swindon to Bristol and Worcester), based on condition, value and sustainable delivery of regulatory and corporate targets. The role involves managing the inspection, examination, assessment and monitoring of structures assets, providing engineering expertise on structures matters to the Building & Civils Asset Management team and to other functions and departments.

Essential
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Substantial relevant experience in structures or civil engineering
- A sound knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards
- Knowledge of Structures Assessment
- An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
- Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
Desirable
- Degree in a relevant subject
- Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer
- Member of a relevant professional institution.
