CSCS, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre, is a branch of ETH Zurich. It provides, develops, and promotes technical and scientific services for the Swiss research community in high-performance computing (HPC). At CSCS, you will have the opportunity to work with world-leading computer systems, large-scale storage and applications for a wide variety of different research areas. The Future Systems group has an opening for the position of a
Computer Scientist
We are seeking a motivated candidate to contribute to the research and development of resource management technologies for extremely demanding computing and storage applications. In this position, the incumbent is expected to carry out research in close collaboration with academic researchers and vendor collaborators. S/he will have opportunities to work on leading edge software and hardware technologies in order to address growing needs of challenging applications that are expected to push the envelope of the next generation of computing and storage platforms.
The successful candidate is expected to have a postgraduate degree in computer science and engineering, and a strong background in the development of technologies for parallel and distributed file systems or resource management and scheduling systems. Rapid prototyping and implementation skills would be an asset for this position. Two or more years of development experience with a resource management system (for example, SLURM, Torque/Moab, etc.) or parallel file systems in a high performance computing environment (for example, GPFS or Lustre) would be considered a plus. An emphasis would be given to a proven record of publications and presentations in the areas of parallel and distributed file systems and resource management and scheduling technologies.
