Chemonics seeks short-term fleet management experts for an ongoing USAID-funded Moldova Local Government Support Project (LGSP). LGSP is a four-year project aimed at assisting local governments in the design and implementation of policies and procedures that contribute to good governance, developing local capacity to meet decentralized authorities and responsibilities for services in a transparent manner, and providing basic services that spur the growth of local economies and make services more cost effective and efficient. One of LGSP's components is devoted to the improvement of municipal service delivery, including planning, service management, and service quality and quantity.
The training is planned for December 2014 and the length of the assignment is anticipated to be 12 days. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide onsite training to municipal staff who are recipients of equipment (such as water supply and sanitation intervention trucks, solid waste trucks, street graders, and bucket trucks)
- Train municipal utility staff on fleet maintenance and management, including vehicle financing, lifestyle management, health and safety, and management of drivers and fuel
Qualifications:
- Background in a technical field, such as engineering, mechanical engineering, transportation, or related field
- Minimum five years of experience in vehicle maintenance
- Knowledge of challenges in operation and maintenance of 15 to 20-year old equipment and new equipment that serves for the provision of municipal services
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required; Romanian or Russian fluency preferred
