Purpose of the Job

NUPB product line is specialised in engineering, manufacturing and servicing of large cooling and transfer water pumps for conventional islands of nuclear power plants, fossil power plants, and other industrial plants.

The Engineering Director leads the engineering execution and critical technology activity and is responsible to deliver the relevant engineering and R&D deliverables for projects and product development, with respect to QCDobjectives. He / She is in charge of ensuring a competitive portfolio in line with the strategy and the market requirements, the development of the technical competence, the processes / methodologies / tools as well as the technologies.

The engineering director reports to NUPB VP

Responsibilities

The Engineering Director is responsible for:
Managing the engineering and R&D teams (budget, planning of the engineering activities, people management and development)
Ensuring all project deliverables (R&D and Projects) are produced in compliance with every project QCD targets, checked and validated in coherence with the required performances by the customer specifications
Leading engineering efficiency (Time, cost and Quality) and improvement :
Implementation and improvement of the design process including the gate reviews for design freeze and R&D PDQprocess.
o Development of the methodologies and the tools Management of the return of experience and establishing the design rules and dimensioning tools.
As product manager, participating to the product line strategy by proposing the development of new products and/ or the improvement of the portfolio.
Validating the solution / product proposed to the customer or to be included in the portfolio including in terms of performance (technical, competitiveness, EHS)
Ensuring that NUPB products are compliant with the international rules and standards, in particular in term of EHSand is responsible to drive & valid & sign the engineering portion of the CE marking when required
Managing intellectual property of NUPB technologies through patents.
Ensuring Return of experience is effectively integrated
Participating actively directly or through his direct reports, in all key reviews : tender reviews, project design reviews, return of experience reviews, R&D PDQ process

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering
Fluent in French & English
Technical Knowledge/Experience:
10 years’ experience in project engineering or design office management in rotating machineries (Turbine, Pumps, …)
Technical Skills & Competencies
Hydraulic / mechanical skills in pump area.
Knowledge of Power plant principles and process
Knowledge in Engineering tools and standards
