The candidate is supposed to work predominantly on the following topics:
• Performing optical simulations of the laser beam propagation in various beamlines.
• Designing delay lines and focusing optics within Research Programs 2 to 5.
• Interfacing the team of physicists with the planning/design teams of engineers/technicians.
• Setting up basic optical setup for testing alignment procedure of diagnostics and target handling systems.
• Be responsible for the design of the experimental installations and development of opto-mechanical components and systems. Test opto-mechanical prototypes produced by manufacturers.
• Participate in installation work for laser beam transport and diagnostic systems in the commissioning phase of the project.

| Requirements: • Master degree (or equivalent education) in Optical Engineering or in Physics. • Proven experience in optical engineering, in particular designing, specifying and commissioning of optical systems. • Engineering college; university degree not required but welcome. • Experience with laser installations, e.g. alignment issues. • Computing and programming skills; knowledge in ray-tracing software (e.g. Zemax). • Fluent in English in speaking and writing; knowledge of another language, in particular Czech, is a plus although not mandatory. • Ability to work in a team as well as independently. • Willingness to travel according to the requirements of the position. |
