Job Purpose:  

The position of Production Planning Manager is situated in Bridgestone’s European Supply Chain planning department,  geographically located in the EU headquarters in Zaventem.  

It manages 

  • directly a team of 5 planners and
  • indirectly a team of 10 main planners in the different EU plants.  

The production planning, managed centrally since 3 years now, is the true beating heart of Bridgestone’s supply chain, managing under big time pressure a very large complexity.

The main objective of the function is to maximize sales through: 

  • Improved immediate availability of the products;
  • Efficient planning process;
  • Implementation and management of Production Planning process;
  • Definition of optimal ways to achieve maximized result, minimizing waste. 

The operational production planner has frequent interaction with the local plants and the members of the department strategic and tactical planning (STP). Whereas OPP focuses on a period of 1 to 12 weeks the STP-department focusses on 2 months up to 5 years. 

There is also an important responsibility for the Production Planning Manager in bridging the planning process between OPP and STP, especially in the overlap during the 2nd month of the planning cycle. This solution will enable anticipative measures in case disruptive changes, demands come from the market. 

Job Description 

  • Supply Maximization and Inventory Optimization: create and optimize the process of production planning in the EU plants; 
  • System Development: integration, development and improvement of the APS system (OMP). Definition of main points of improvement, ensure  that system is used following best possible process, define boundaries between Central and Local planning; 
  • People management & development;
  • Transformation: make sure that the production planning process meets all requirements to enable success of “the visibility project”. This project is a key project to optimize the inventory and supply as well upstream as downstream. In essence it should enable to foresee in a transparent way the quantitative flux of the goods until delivery in finished state.  

Profile: 

  • min 8 years of relevant experience;
  • experience in a complex industrial, international environment;
  • expertise in project , production and planning;
  • strong supply chain system knowledge and constraint management;
  • experience with OMD or other type of APS;
  • APICs or Master in Project Management is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proven record of managing & leveraging a multi-national team;
  • A passion for leading, motivation and inspiring a team;
  • Change agent, influencing & networking skills;
  • Agile, flexible, able to switch quickly.
