Organizational Context: The Audio and Video Support Unit is responsible for the operations of WIPO's conference technology services, in particular those of the new 900-seat Conference Hall, featuring multi-channel audio systems, video projection systems, webcasting, digital recording and digital signage systems. The Unit is also responsible for the provision of multimedia collaboration services such as video conferencing and web conferencing utilized by the different WIPO business sectors. In addition, the Unit is in charge of the coordination of relevant external services especially when events, such as Diplomatic Conferences, are organized outside WIPO's premises.

The incumbent provides conference technology services including audio and video operations to ensure continuity and high quality of service for on-site, off-site and virtual meetings. This includes provision of technical guidance to colleagues in the team, liaison with conference secretariats and external service providers and preparation and participation in the acceptance testing of conference systems, particularly as part of the New WIPO Conference Hall implementation.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head of the Audio and Video Support Unit.

Main duties: The incumbent performs the following main duties:

  1. Support the Head of the Audio and Video Support Unit in the planning, technical specification, evaluation, selection and implementation of audio and video solutions such as Unified Communication and conference remote participation, aiming at addressing the increasing service demand.
  2. Provide technical expertise and assistance to the operations of conference technical facilities and services, including the management of audio and video systems, webcasting, video-on-demand (VOD), captioning, digital recording etc.
  3. Coordinate weekly schedule to ensure all events are supported and ensure pre-conference setup, equipment configuration, instruction and user guidance.
  4. Diagnose and analyze technical issues and recommend solutions.
  5. Perform preventive maintenance programs for all audio and video equipment and conference rooms.
  6. Maintain standard operating procedures and provide training to technical staff to ensure continued operational support.
  7. Act as the corporate technical reference concerning handheld, desktop and office oriented solutions for setting up webinars, web meetings and remote learning environments, and provide guidance to other supporting units, such as ICT Service Desk as needed.
  8. Keep abreast of the latest technologies and identify, recommend and implement continuous improvements on infrastructure and support mechanisms in collaboration with other units of the ICT Department and in consultation with business units.
  9. Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Education: Essential:

  • Completed commercial or secondary education.

Desirable:

  • Certification in the area of audio and video technologies.

Experience: Essential:

  • At least eight years of relevant hands-on experience in the deployment and operation of audio and video solutions including:
  • Experience in the implementation and operation of cross-platform (ISDN and IP based etc) audio and H323 video conferencing equipment and related multi-media technologies.
  • Experience in deploying and integrating conference technical solutions in an enterprise environment covering a range of technologies from desktop to large meeting room based conference and video conference solutions, including the use of hybrid phones and audio bridging services.
  • Experience with operational aspects of Televic conference room systems and WinMedia digital recording solution.
  • Experience with various web conferencing solutions, in particular WebEx, GoToWebinar, Vidyo and Adobe Connect.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Akamai, Kaltura and Wowsa Servers in conjunction with the provision of webcasting and VOD services.

Desirable:

  • Experience with professional video editing applications such as Final Cut Pro.

Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure and successfully prioritize tasks in order to successfully managing multiple commitments and deadlines.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to propose suitable audio and video conferencing solutions in response to specific business requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. High level of client-orientation.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English or French and good knowledge of the other.

Monthly salary: (Net of tax)

6,854 CHF
