Role Details:
An exciting opportunity exists within the Control Department for a Chief Engineer to work on Engine Control System projects. The Engine Control team have a strong pipeline of client projects covering advanced engine controls, aftertreatment and OBD.
Job Duties:
To lead and deliver client projects to the highest standards:
Provide technical leadership for teams of engineers involved in Engine Controls projects;
Interface directly with clients on technical issues;
Focus on delivery of projects on-time and on-budget;
Technical negotiations with clients and support of commercial discussions;
Adherence to relevant software quality and safety procedures.
To support the growth of the Engine Control team
Actively contribute to the development of future products and services;
Support of the Sales Teams in the development of market opportunities through client interaction, proposal support and roadmap development;
Support customers meetings to develop new business streams;
Mentor junior engineers within the team;
Continually strive to improve the department processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful applicant will have a sound automotive engineering background, at least ten years of experience of successfully delivering projects in a powertrain controls and electronics environment either in an OEM, Tier 1 or consultant capacity.
Essential
Minimum degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline;
Fluent in a model-based development languages such as – Matlab/Simulink, Embedded Coder, Targetlink, ASCET;
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time;
Experience of training junior engineers and developing a team – good interpersonal and communication skills;
Able to be flexible on work location – prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments;
Experience in control systems for Diesel Engine Management systems and Aftertreatment systems with extensive experience in the application of these systems in prototype and production projects.
Preferred
Experience of control systems for Gasoline Engine Management systems;
Familiar with projects in the automotive industry (software development process, OEM product life cycle, SOPdevelopment process);
Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems (CAN, powertrain architectures, system interaction,OBD, ISO26262);
Analytical approach to developing controls algorithms in an automotive environment;
Ability to understand C-Code.
