The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Integration, Verification and Validation Planner.
Description of directorate/division
The Systems Engineering Division (SE-Division) is organizationally located in the Machine Directorate. The SE-Division is responsible for establishing the overall framework and procedures for the management of the ESS technical processes, and for orchestrating the application of the technical processes through all lifecycle phases. The SE-Division supports the development of a cohesive technical baseline and ensure the integrity and flow-down of top level requirements. The SE-Division is responsible for developing and maintaining the baseline at the ESS level.
Description of main responsibilities
The Integration, Verification and Validation, IVV Planner, is responsible for developing and maintaining the plans for Integration, Verification, Validation and Transition at the ESS facility level. You will support the ESS projects for cascading IVV plans down to the component level. You will also define the framework for integrating safety verification activities in close collaboration with the Environment, Safety and Health division and the Safety Engineering group leader.
As the IVV Planner, you will contribute to the development of requirement specifications at the ESS facility level and you will support the ESS projects for developing their verification requirements. You are responsible for providing guidance and support to other divisions at ESS in their requirements management activities. You will also ensure the reporting of the IVV activities, and you will support RAMS and ILS activities for defining related verification activities.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in engineering or equivalent;
- Skills in systems engineering and project planning are mandatory;
- Knowledge and experience of application of relevant international standards is an advantage;
- Experience in the implementation of systems engineering and project activities within an international project;
- Experience with an accelerator and/or target and/or control systems and/or instruments and/or conventional facilities and/or decommissioning activities is a plus but not a prerequisite;
- Experience of working in an international environment is essential;
- Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
