A full time experimental officer position is available within the Optical Fibre Fabrication Group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre. The post will primarily involve optical fibre fabrication, materials processing, and fibre characterisation, but a good knowledge of managing fibre fabrication and characterisation facilities will also be required. The candidate should have a proven track-record working in an environment where hazardous gases and chemicals are used, and a hands-on experience in optical fibre fabrication (or similar) would be highly desirable Applicants should have a minimum degree qualification in an engineering/physics/chemistry discipline and post-graduate experience in the subject area.

The appointment will initially be for 3 years on TAE Level 5 (Technical and Experimental Pathway) with further scope for a long term appointment. The salary will be commensurate with the qualification and experience.The current salary is in the range of £36,309 to £45,954 pa for level 5 TAE staff.
