Head of Business Angel Investments (BAI)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a network of high level/quality external contacts (mandators, BAs, BA networks);
  • Manage the BAI unit team and cross unit transaction and business development teams;
  • Develop and implement the business plan, participating as necessary in the research, identification of business opportunities, preparation of proposals, due diligence, structuring and negotiation of transactions, and follow-up of the BA portfolio;
  • Roll-out BAI in additional countries via dedicated mandates with local partners and/or on a pan-European basis via a dedicated pan-European pocket; attracting investors to the EIF’s BA activities;
  • Monitor the BA portfolios and review monitoring reports on a regular basis;
  • Follow-up of counterparts, BAs and non-institutional investors (such as family offices) and their investments;
  • Represent EIF in industry and BA events;
  • Oversee the preparation of the relevant reporting to the respective mandators and any other mandate related management matters;
  • Perform and participate in screenings, due diligence, negotiation and monitoring of fund investments

Qualifications:

  • University degree in finance, business administration or technology/engineering; post-graduate degree would be an advantage;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant professional experience and sound understanding of the BA and Venture Capital/Private Equity industry and techniques in Europe;
  • First or confirmed experience in people management would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge and experience of structuring of Private equity, VC (fund-of-funds) investments and BA co-investments;
  • Experience in negotiating mandates with key EIF stakeholders notably EC and National Promotional Institutions;
  • Fluency in written and oral English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
