Job summary
SWIFT has a successful commercial business intelligence offering called Watch, with more than 160 customers worldwide. Next to Watch we offer many other BI & Reporting services to our internal customers.
With numerous initiatives in the pipeline to extend the scope of Watch and further exploit the gold mine of data, we are looking for a motivated backend developer in the Business Intelligence Systems team to help making these initiatives a success. Joining our team of highly skilled professionals will give you the opportunity to gain experience in a leading edge technology domain and at the same time gain or extend your SWIFT’s business knowledge.
Your responsibilities will be to
- Design, develop, test, install and support programs/systems in line with agreed requirements;
- Assist with the analysis of requirements and the development of recommendations as to the systems approach to follow;
- Prepare specifications, codes, tests, deliverables, acceptance criteria, time frames, etc. and prepare and study the technical feasibility and estimates of the proposed systems solutions;
- Analyze the problems, develop and propose solutions to more senior team members;
- Provide technical assistance to other SWIFT colleagues and provide guidance to more junior team members in their daily work;
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and prepare and give presentations to customers on systems;
- Provide timing/scheduling estimates to project lead and propose corrective actions to timelines when necessary;
- Assist with enhancing and maintaining the continuous integration framework; constantly strive to further automate and optimize where possible;
- As part of a scrum team, be flexible to temporarily take on other assignments (analysis, frontend development, testing, …).
Education
- University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- 2-5 years of IT development experience in a medium size team.
Professional knowledge and expertise
- Oracle database development: SQL, PL/SQL;
- Data modelling (data warehouse, ERD) skills;
- Good understanding of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence design and architecture concepts;
- UNIX, shell and perl scripting; system administration eg. Solaris packaging;
- Change management and versioning tools (Clearcase);
- Security concepts and implementation;
- Scrum and agile methodologies;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Strong communication; fluent in English;
