Control & Command System Engineer

As a Control & Command Systems Engineer, you will join our Systems Integration team as a specialist in Train Control aspects of the train design.

Starting from the input of Vehicle Engineering (electrical architects, functional architects) you will design the hardwired train logic (cabling, contactors, relays, etc.) in dialogue with the electrical and functional architects, the system engineers (HVAC, brakes, doors, coupler, etc.) and the train network engineers. You will analyse the customer requirements and system supplier inputs (system wiring diagrams and system functional descriptions / analyses). You will be present at meetings and design reviews with the system suppliers and the customer. You will be responsible for ensuring that your design meets the customer requirements and legislative standards. You will manage the design of electrical schematics, including the design of relay logic and managing electrical interfaces with supplier’s equipment.

Your role and responsibilities will be to:

Analyze customer requirements and the input from the electrical and functional architects. Develop the hardwired functionalities on train level. Analyze and optimize the technical choices in terms of cost, reliability and safety. Produce the functional analyses on train level for conventional train control. Test the functionality of the Control/Command on train level through specific software. Translate the train Control/Command into wiring diagrams. Manage the electrical and functional interfaces with other systems. Manage technicians developing the cabling diagram / physical integration and defining the electrical components. Validate the functional behavior of the Control/Command system on train level.

Qualifications

The successful candidates will have:

over 5 years’ experience in a control & command system engineer position for a railway solutions provider or in a related sector (aerospace, automotive, defense, naval, etc.); a master or engineering diploma in electrical engineering ; a broad knowledge and experience in system integration, system architecture and conventional train control, functional analysis, electrical components, wiring diagrams; an experience of the design, analysis, development, testing and delivery of engineering solutions that solve complex requirements; an ability to support other departments (engineering, production, procurement, projects) and the development of less experienced engineers; excellent English & French communication skills (written and spoken); Dutch is a plus.
