Wind Farm Engineering Manager - Region

Purpose of the Job 

Manage and develop the regional team of Wind Farm Engineering with the mission to:

  • Support project to Increase responsiveness for Customer satisfaction, and ensure coordination for timely delivery of documents and interface management (Technical Project Management, Scada, Balance of Plant, Grid Integration and Commissioning Engineering Methods & Processes);
  • Develop autonomy and team capabilities in the region in the topics covered by regional wind farm engineering team;
  • Improve accountability and support from tender until PAC. 

Responsibilities

Manage Wind Farm Engineering Team in terms of:

  • Support Projects in the areas of Balance of Plant, Grid Integration, Scada, Commissioning Engineering and general wind farm technical support from the phase of tender to the final acceptance by the customer;
  • Team and know-how development at regional level to increase autonomy in response;
  • Focus team objectives on Customer satisfaction and on time delivery of the documents and solutions required in the projects. Monitor of team KPIs and reporting to Project Office Director and Global Function;
  • Ensure application of methodologies, tools and processes defined from Global function;
  • Support the Global function in the development and improvement of tools, processes and methodologies;
  • Ensure proper application of project gate reviews and quality on the outputs from WFE team;
  • Develop partners, subcontractors and suppliers to support the functions;
  • Responsible for the engineering technical dossier for each wind farm and according to the scope of the project.

Responsibilities on EHS

  • To implement and enforce within the Project of EHS management policy;
  • Encourage the involvement and participation of members in the project, in making suggestions for improvements in order to avoid accidents;
  • Comply with EHS policy;
  • Participate in the deployment and compliance with legal requirements and internal EHS;
  • Identification of risks that affect their area or field of work and define/propose means of prevention and adequate protection to prevent them;
  • Active participation in the development of courses and proposals for improvement to avoid incidents and accidents;
  • Educate and train in work procedures/instructions concerning them safe for their duties;
  • Carry out work according to the rules and procedures, avoiding any acts or omissions at work that might pose a danger or risk to its integrity or the people around them;
  • Wear personal protective equipment required for individual and groups performing the work safely, checking that they are in perfect condition and ensuring the proper condition of the goods;
  • Take care of work equipment: machines, tools, facilities, ... they handle, ensuring the proper state , keeping in order and cleanliness  their workplace;
  • Cooperate in combating any emergency that arises;
  • Immediately report failures, deficiencies, or any situation detected and that may pose a risk to people and anything that might involve some uncontrolled risk;
  • Report any accident or incident is detected, helping as needed in the subsequent investigation of it;
  • Assume the basic principle that should do the work in the safest possible way for which it is necessary and priority setting the tone of this behavior.

Measurement

  • On time delivery according contractual agreements;
  • Project documentation release schedule;
  • Claims & cost impact;
  • List of EC implementation.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering;
  • Languages: English is a must, other languages (Spanish, Dutch, French) will be highly appreciated.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience managing small teams oriented to projects and execution with technical background.
  • Experience in at least one of the disciplines covered in wind farm engineering: electrical infrastructure, wind farm execution projects, civil works, scada, commissioning;

Technical skills/competencies:

  • Overall vision of the windfarm technology and knowledge of main topics: electrical, mechanical, civil, and comms;
  • Project and resource management;
  • Acknowledge of the wind energy market;
  • Aptitude and talent to negotiate;
  • Availability to travel occasionally.

Behavioural skills/competencies:

  • Team working skills;
  • Management ability (teams, scope and tasks);
  • Aptitude to solve problems pro-actively;
  • Learning capacity (high integration speed in the team);
