Organizational Context
The post is located in the Registries Support Division (RSD), Brands and Designs Sector. RSD is responsible for providing logistical, operational and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) development and support services enabling the administration of the Madrid, Hague and Lisbon IP registration systems. The Business Application Architecture Section is responsible for the provision of ICT systems development activities relating to the automated systems supporting the Madrid, Hague and Lisbon registration systems.
The main role of the incumbent is to interpret business requirements emanating from the Registries, to analyze, propose and subsequently develop, or oversee external development of, technical solutions designed to meet those requirements.
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head, Business Application Architecture Section.

Education
Essential
First-level university degree in information technology, computer science or a related field.
Desirable
Certification in Java, UNIX, System architecture, Prince2 and/or Web application design.
Experience
Essential
At least six years relevant professional experience, including in systems analysis and design tools and methods, ergonomic methodology or vendor management.
Experience in Java, Web-based technologies and database environments including Oracle, MySQL or similar products.
Desirable
Experience of BPM and SOA technologies including experience with Oracle Suite products.
Practical experience in XML technologies.
Skills
Essential
Desirable
Knowledge of all or some of the following: business analysis, software development process improvement, problem management, release and deployment, system software, security administration, continuity management, emerging technology monitoring, enterprise and business architecture development.
Languages
Essential
Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
Desirable
Knowledge of French and/or Spanish.

Post adjustment
93.1 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
Additional Information
Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.
Initial period of two years, renewable, subject to satisfactory performance. No fixed-term appointment or any extension hereof shall carry with it any expectancy of, nor imply any right to, (further) extensions or conversion to a permanent appointment.
