Logistics Officer

Malteser International (MI), the worldwide relief agency, works in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas for people in need, regardless of their religion, origin or political affiliation. Its mission is to provide emergency relief as well as to implement rehabilitation measures and to facilitate the link between emergency relief and sustainable development. Humanitarian principles of impartiality and independence form the basis of its work in the following areas: Relief, Reconstruction & Rehabilitation; Health & Nutrition; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH); Livelihood & Social Programs and Disaster Risk Reduction.

Malteser International in Turkey works in partnership with the local NGO, International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation, in providing relief aid, health and community services to Syrian refugees accommodated in Kilis. A Temporary Field Hospital in Kilis provides post-operative care for around 50 in-patients transferred from Kilis State Hospital; and Community Center in Kilis provides educational and social services to over 2000 refugees attending different activities. At the cross-border area inside Syria where 50.000 internally displaced persons found temporary shelter at the IDP camps along the Turkish border, Malteser International works in partnership with Free Medical Association to provide medical assistance in four health facilities, three of them in form of primary health care and one as a surgical/delivery unit with small in-patient capacity.

In support of our projects in Turkey and Syria, Malteser International is looking for a

Logistics Officer
(local employment contract)

As a Logistics Officer, you will be providing support for the logistic management for projects in Turkey and Syria, in close cooperation with our partner organizations International Blue Crescent and Free Medical Association.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tender documentation and implement procurement and delivery procedures to support projects implementation
  • Prepare logistic and administrative reports including inventory lists, vehicle reports, etc.
  • Support implementation of procurement procedures and logistic activities and reports for the local NGO partners
  • Support cross-border logistics and coordination with Turkish border and custom agencies

Qualification:

  • University Degree in Management, Economics and/or Engineering
  • Fluency in English language (Turkish as mother tongue, knowledge of Arabic would be an asset)
  • Previous working experience in logistics management of projects
  • Excellent computer skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office package

Conditions:

  • Start Date: February 15th, 2015
  • Duty Station: Kilis, Turkey
  • Duration of contract: 12 months
  • Salary according to qualification and experience, including coverage of social benefits
