Key Responsibilities
Drilling engineer responsible for the full life cycle of wells within the Maersk Oil UK portfolio. Responsibilities include engineering planning, execution and close-out of exploration, appraisal and development wells.
- Work as part of Wells Department and in multidisciplinary project teams including subsurface, production technology, completions engineering, drilling operations, suppliers, management and partners;
- Develop conceptual and detailed well engineering designs as per Well Delivery Process (WDP);
- Trajectory, casing, drilling fluids, cementing, hydraulics, BHA and drillstring design, torque and drag, abandonment design and relief well planning;
- Research and promotion of innovative technology and best practices to optimise drilling performance;
- Promotion of Constant Care regarding safety and integrity in well engineering design and operations;
- Preparation of detailed drilling programmes and statutory permits;
- Close-out of WDP including capturing of lessons learnt to ensure continuous improvement through learning;
- Cost analysis and development of well cost estimates for future wells;
- Participation in knowledge sharing with wider Maersk Oil community and industry;
- Participation in peer reviews of wells activities in other Maersk Oil business units and on partner operated ventures.

- Significant demonstrable experience in a drilling engineering role including offshore rig site experience;
- Proficiency in drilling engineering principles and software applications;
- Knowledge of subsea wells and UKCS operations is an advantage;
- Good knowledge of UK and international regulations.
