Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- A post-graduate degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in applied reservoir engineering in different reservoirs and operating environments (Sandstone, carbonates, naturally fractured reservoirs, tight gas and oil, gas condensates, etc.).
- Expert knowledge of reserves and resources estimation methods in conventional and according to SEC and SPE-PRMS guidelines.
- Design and interpretation of well tests for conventional including pressure and rate transient tests.
- Skilled at analytical and numerical reservoir engineering techniques including: Reservoir characterization, volumetric analysis, Material balance, Decline-curve analysis, Well test analysis, PVT, Integrated reservoir studies.
- Expertise in the use of industry standard commercial simulators (e.g. Eclipse, Petrel-RE), and analytical reservoir engineering tools (Prosper, MBAL, PVTP, Saphir, OFM, Crystal ball).
Optional Qualifications and Experience:
- Expert knowledge of probabilistic and deterministic methods for reserves estimation.
- Knowledge of petroleum economics, uncertainty analysis techniques, and assessment of risks.
- Knowledge of reserves Audit and control practices.
- Knowledge of Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures and objectives related to his/her area of responsibility; ensures effective implementation.
Other requirements
- Strong leadership skills.
- Specialist level knowledge of reservoir management and field development planning.
- Strong working knowledge of industry standard commercial simulators.
- Interpersonal effectiveness - Works well with other disciplines and interacts effectively within the project technical teams.
- Good communication skills, ensuring attention to details, due diligence, value added, and reliable service.
- High level of English (written and verbal). Knowledge in Spanish is valuable.

Functions and duties
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Introduces and recommends working systems or standard procedures for reserves and resources control. Makes sure these systems are introduced to the technical staff and, if necessary, appropriate training programs are provided.
- Writes, maintains, and distributes the internal technical guidelines (norms) of reserves and contingent resources as well as updates and distributes the guidelines and external regulations, analyzes and quantifies its impact and evolution.
- Designs, assesses, and reports the analysis of uncertainties and its associated risks of the reserves and contingent resources. Maintains alive the reserves and resources risk map of Repsol group.
- Analyzes the technical reserves proposals. Prepares Statement of Position (SOP) related to reserves and resources estimation and management documents.
- Participates in the training and development of the technical staff. This includes monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees, as required.
- Provides technical support for the internal Audits of reserves and resources.
- Follows the external audit process, ensures the technical quality and compliance with Repsol Reserves Reporting System and international reserves reporting guidelines.
- Guarantees the increase and transfer of the intellectual capital of the reserves and resources through attending forums, seminars, conferences, and events nationally and internationally and reports in this regard. Contributes to the growth of the internal and external knowledge communities.
