PLC/SCADA Engineer

Environment

The PLC Engineer role is an integral member of the team, as the role provides critical technical knowledge. Toptech is a highly fluid and fast paced work environment, individuals are expected to be flexible and have a willingness to adapt to changing priorities. The position allows the individual to work in a comfortable causal team environment with internal and external resources. Individuals will have to think outside the box to come up with solutions to meet requirements our customers have of their automation system.
Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops efficient design of PLC and SCADA systems. Activating these systems; Design PLC and SCADA packages based on electrical diagram and/or a functional description; Advise the System Application Engineers in designing the detail engineering; Manage the standard logical blocks, PLC and SCADA design; Provide internal support to Systems Engineers and sales team; Performs independent research and development work with project responsibility, to resolve problems with existing products, design product or components or enhancements. Applies engineering principles and techniques to accomplish goals. Assign or prepare drawings, establish product standards, direct model development, monitor testing and plan operations, analyze and report on results, costs, and develop and contribute new product ideas. Required to use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments; Performs or oversees testing programs to ensure products meet design goals; Ensures that component, layout and other specifications are accurate and that all design parameters are compliant with regulatory requirements and consistent with environmental and process factors involved in manufacturing and application; Reviews data collected from manufacturing and applications sources and develops product modifications and improvements to suit requirements; Ensures that all product designs and documentation comply with the company quality system; Maintain project responsibility through all phases of program including achieving stable manufacturing and shipment of products.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in engineering from four-year college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Three to six years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
