The Section is responsible for all the projects related to the studies and the modifications of existing Belgian nuclear power plants (Doel/Tihange) including Long Term Operation (LTO) projects.  For the modification projects, these go from the pre-feasibility studies up to final commissioning of the installations, covering feasibility, design, procurement and on-site realization activities.

Within this Department you are responsible for projects (studies and/or modifications) related to the nuclear power plants in Belgium.

Your function

  • You manage and drive the design and/or implementation of the project;
  • You have a strong background and experience in the development, design and realisation of power plants projects;
  • You coordinate and manage the project team;
  • You have experience of projects preferably in nuclear sector;
  • You manage the project procurement activities (tender documents, tendering, negotiation, contracting and invoicing) for packages and insure that the Client’s requirements/targets are met;
  • You attend steering committees (internal and external) and prepare the associated documents to convince the management and the stakeholders;
  • You manage and monitor the time schedule, the budget, the performances, the HSE (according to a ‘zero accident philosophy’) and nuclear safety aspects, the quality and the profitability of the project;
  • You take care of the technical-commercial optimisation of the project installations;
  • You take care of the requirements of the O&M Client’s teams and monitor Client’s satisfaction;
  • As far as project is started, you take the required actions to meet the KPIs of the project ;
  • You control the strict application of the scope of supply and manage the project scope variations related to the project, if any ;
  • You define the tasks and delegate them amongst the people involved and you empower them to carry out the tasks;
  • You take care of internal contacts with the competence centers and support departments (procurement, legal, finance, IT, risk management, communication, …);
  • You organise meetings with the Client and develop a partnership approach with the Client;
  • After consulting the experts, you determine the outline for an optimal technical design;
  • In coordination with involved stakeholders, you determine an optimised purchasing strategy for the project;
  • You coordinate the lead engineers of each discipline and you verify the adequate integration of the various specialities in the project;
  • You take care of the technical and commercial contacts with the Clients and partners, if any, and you define commercial actions when appropriate;

Qualifications

  • You are civil engineer or industrial engineer;
  • You have a proven experience (five to ten years) in project management (incl. contract management), of which at least two years as a project manager or deputy project manager and have technical background in power plants; nuclear knowledge is an asset;
  • Your mother tongue is Dutch or French. Knowledge of both  languages and English is preferred;
  • You are Client’s minded;
  • You are pragmatic, dynamic, resistant to stress, rigorous, good team manager with coaching abilities and able to develop a strategic vision;
  • You are flexible, good at planning concurrent assignments and you are a good organiser, even in unexpected circumstances;
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • You are geographically located in the Brussels HQ with frequent visits to the Belgian NPP sites (Doel and/or Tihange) and occasionally visits outside Belgium. In function of the project, you could be located directly on the Doel – Tihange site.
