In your own words, please provide brief responses to the following two questions. You should not exceed 3 sides of A4 in responding to both questions.
The purpose of these questions is to help gauge the candidate’s knowledge of the policy issue and to get a sense of the candidate’s communications skills.
- The Industrial Emissions Directive recognizes environmental NGOs as a formal stakeholder in the so called “Sevilla process” for the elaboration and review of BAT reference documents. What should be the role of environmental NGOs in this process and how could we achieve that objective? If possible, please give specific examples.
- What do you think are the bottlenecks and gaps in relation to providing ambitious environmental benchmarks in relation to the mentioned BREF industrial sectors? How would you address these and overcome these to achieve improved environmental performance of industrial activities in the EU?
