(Experienced) Patent Attorney – Software
Responsible for creating, developing, protecting and exploiting an extensive IP portfolio for Océ future products

Your job
You are the strategic advisor and specialist in all IP matters for entrusted accounts related to embedded control, application software and workflow management for Océ products. This includes building and managing the IP portfolio, filing and prosecuting patent applications, assessing freedom to operate for Océ products in development, evaluating and negotiating IP provisions in contracts, and analyzing third party patents for your discipline. 

More specifically your most important responsibilities are:

• building and managing an entrusted part of a patent portfolio by drafting patents and securing the grant of patent rights on inventions by Océ employees;
• evaluating third party patents in so far as these are relevant for new developments within product development (R&D);
• participating in the evaluation of the relevance of third party patents with respect to the business of Océ, including supporting licensing activities;
• advising (senior) management on all matters related to IP/IPR (patents), and providing guidance and education to relevant stakeholders e.g. product development;
• collaborate with legal affairs departments in relation to agreements with an intellectual property component;
• representing Océ in proceedings for the relevant courts and patent offices worldwide. 

This position is based in Venlo, the Netherlands. You report to the Vice-President Intellectual Property.

Who are we looking for?

• You have a qualification as (European) Patent Attorney, or you are in process to becoming a qualified Patent Attorney;
• You have Master degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems or comparable; 
• You have relevant working experience in Intellectual Property and/or relevant working experience related to embedded control and application software; 
• You are proactive communicator supporting the delivery of best-in-class products 
• You have a flexible and proactive approach to problems and demands properly balancing attention, effort and quality. Moreover the ability to thrive in challenging situations and react quickly and positively to a fast-moving environment 
• Strong in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects in a fast-paced environment, excellent relationship building and influencing skills
• You have excellent communication skills in English – verbal and written
