The Project Engineer will provide global support to GTEL’s marketing and origination activities, making frequent business trips to meet potential customers and other stakeholders. The role will be based at the ICBT Sunbury with regular travel to IST’s offices in Canary Wharf.

Key accountabilities

  • Working with GTEL commercial teams on technical aspects of existing and new business activity;
  • Developing high-level project plans and cost and schedule estimates;
  • Managing studies and deliverables from engineering contractors and suppliers;
  • Providing knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations;
  • Setting up and contributing to Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE) assessments, risk workshops and design reviews;
  • Investigating and solving design and operational problems, in collaboration with other BP specialists if necessary;
  • Maintaining awareness of technology developments and providing evaluation of new equipment and technology;
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of practices and procedures;
  • Representing the company at counterparty, industry, regulatory, national and/or international level.

Essential Education

  • Educated to degree level in engineering with Chartered Engineer status.

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Extensive experience in LNG projects and operations, particularly Floating Storage & Regasification Units (FSRUs);
  • Good understanding of the civil / marine aspects of site selection and terminal design and how these factors drive concept selection;
  • Experience of working on different project stages, including feasibility and concept selection;
  • Understanding of project processes, execution planning and performance management;
  • Ability to challenge conventional methods of working, examine multiple options and take on innovative & new solutions;
  • Practised in HSSE management, hazard evaluation and risk management;
  • Ability to prioritise and prevent conflicts between activities;
  • Well developed team working and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work under own initiative without supervision;
  • Proven track record in delivering performance against demanding targets;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with decision-makers and non-specialists;
  • Ability to build networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

  • Knowledge of process safety tools, including HAZOP, LOPA and QRA;
  • Experience of working with the engineering contractor and supplier communities;
  • Knowledge of gas-fired power generation;
  • Commercial awareness, particularly in regard to gas monetisation.
