Research Scientist
- salary according to TV-L (limited to 1 year, with the possibility of renewal, full-time ) -
The holder of the post will work within the Department of Neurorehabilitation Engineering of the Medical Faculty of Göttingen, actively on research projects and initiatives in the area of neuroplasticity.
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in physiology, neuroscience, or highly-related areas, with demonstrated record of strong scientific publications in the field of neuroscience in particular on the topic of neuroplasticity. The applicant should provide a record of experience with experimental studies involving human cortical excitability, in particular electroencephalography (EEG). Experience with animal experiments using single-unit recordings or electrocorticography (ECoG) are considered as assets. The candidate should preferably have experience using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and further methods to induce or measure neuroplasticity. Experience of interacting with patients is desirable but not necessary. The holder should be proficient in signal analysis, processing, and interpretation, and in presenting scientific findings in professional forums. Programming experience with Matlab is required, and experience with C/C++/C# is beneficial. The applicant should have experience in preparing ethics applications for research projects.
Your tasks:
- Research in the field of neuroplasticity, with a focus on locomotion, pain, and/or bionic replacement or enhancement of limb function;
- Performing experiments on human subjects;
- Disseminating scientific results in the form of publications
Besides the scientific skills, fluent written and spoken English is essential.
