Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Office of the Director (OD), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (Umoja Site Coordinator), Division for Management, UNOV/UNODC, and in coordination with the New York based Umoja Team who will provide guidelines, templates and schedules for data analysis and cleansing, infrastructure implementation, specifications for data extracts and local/legacy interfaces. The incumbent will work also in close cooperation and coordination with the Information Technology Service, DM, UNOV/UNODC.
Umoja is a UN Secretariat wide transformation project based on the SAP ERP environment, that encompasses the implementation of the SAP system, business processes, process re-engineering, functional role changes and change management. The Umoja project is due for implementation in Vienna in November 2015 and will cover finance, human resources, travel, supply chain and elements of programme management. The Vienna implementation will impact programme delivery and more than 2,000 staff worldwide.

Responsibilities
- The incumbent will be responsible for the following specific duties:
- As a member of the Umoja deployment team, lead technical processes of UNOV/UNODC technology readiness for Umoja, including network, desktop, printer setup and coordination.
- Data conversion - provide legacy system data extracts requested by the Umoja Team for automated data conversion design, build, test and cutover.
- Data quality analysis and data cleansing - perform automated legacy system data quality analysis and support subsequent data cleansing by creating and running reports and queries to monitor data quality and cleansing progress. Where agreed, implement and run automated data cleansing programmes.
- Interfaces - develop / modify the legacy side of interfaces in order to enable to exchange data with Umoja; participate in testing and set up of the production interface during cutover.
- Infrastructure - test connectivity between the UNOV/UNODC sites and Umoja; evaluate local user computers to ensure their configuration is sufficient for Umoja requirements; and install any required software.
- UNOV/UNODC testing - test infrastructure, provide UNOV/UNODC technical support for system and UNOV/UNODC user testing and test data conversions and interfaces.
- Cutover - provide UNOV/UNODC technical support during cutover, provide data extracts for conversions and put local components of production interfaces into operation.
- Support - provide post-live UNOV/UNODC technical support, principal connectivity and desktop support.
- Archiving and decommissioning - after Umoja stabilization establish and implement strategies to archive any legacy system data that have not been converted to Umoja but must be retained, and to decommission systems that have been replaced by Umoja.

Education
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in electrical engineering, computer science, information systems or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area within the United Nations or similar international organization is required.
- A minimum of three years of working experience in systems implementation is required.
- Working experience with SAP is highly desirable.
- Experience in working with interfaces between ERP systems and workflow applications is desirable.
- Experience working with functional analysts, subject matter experts and other members of the business community to understand business requirements, and to design and develop technical solutions to meet the business needs of the organization is highly desirable.
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For the post advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.
- Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.
