IS Application BI (Business Intelligence) Specialist

Role and Responsibilities

Fulfil an important role in Medair’s mission to support the creation of reports and dashboards for key Medair reporting systems. This role supports the project manager by designing and developing analytical reports and dashboards which are relevant to the needs of the field and HQ programmes teams.

Medair Headquarters

Medair Headquarters (HQ) provides operational guidance for country programmes and activities, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. Within our headquarters, we are also responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes. Our headquarters teams are also responsible for recruiting international and HQ staff, and like our field teams, we are committed to serve the world’s most vulnerable with practical and compassionate care.

Key Activity Areas

Major Tasks

  • Design reports and dashboards (Qlik, Jet report).
  • Create relevant data-models in order to report on multiple system and data sources.
  • Create scripts or batches to consolidate diverse data sources.
  • Administrate the reporting server (Qlik).
  • Work with the end user to ensure the ease of use, intuitiveness and understanding of the reports / dashboard.
  • These Support tasks will contribute towards the completion of:
  • Portfolio Project.
  • On-going departmental reporting needs.

Qualifications

  • Broad qualification in ICT including, theory and practice of computers
  • Programming skills, BI, database architecture, batch and scripting languages
  • Computer Science degree desirable

Languages

  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Working knowledge of French (spoken and written) desirable

Experience / Competencies

  • 2-3 years experiences in programming or BI (Business Intelligence)
  • Programming (python, php, vb), Batch and scripting language (ANT), Knowledge of MySQL / MS SQL database architecture.
  • Qlik (Qlikview) experience desirable
  • Analytical and detailed approach to ICT
  • Able to define systems and approaches that are ‘sustainable’
  • Good understanding of ICT risks
  • Sensitive to security and adheres to security protocol and guidelines desirable
  • User interface / graphical sensitivity desirable
  • Able to train and coach others
  • Autonomous: manages own work and resources in an organised way that meets time bound objectives
  • Able and willing to work as part of a team, respecting and sensitive to colleagues

  • Committed Christians; commitment to the Medair values
  • Reflect the vision and values of Medair when interacting with team members and external contacts
  • At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Working knowledge of French (spoken and written) for French-speaking roles
  • Competent with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Motivated by a spirit of service; solid team player
