Role Summary/Purpose:
Lead Materials Engineer independently executes assigned materials engineering and technology projects related to design, manufacture, repair, test, certification and field support of aircraft engines; provides technical guidance and support to other team members; assures that all applicable design practices, technical specifications and certification requirements are met. Materials Engineer will be a core member of the Materials Engineering team and report to the Engineering Section Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:
- Selection of materials for aircraft engine components;
- Definition and verification of material requirements and inspection methods;
- Investigation of material failure, applying destructive and non-destructive methods;
- Material characterization and testing, including preparation of test plans and result analysis;
- Development and application of technologies for engine component repairs;
- Evaluation of material related manufacturing deviations and change proposals;
- Ensuring that products comply with environmental, health and safety standards;
- Collaboration with other R&D teams, manufacturing, testing, sourcing, and service departments;
- Cooperation with suppliers in process development;
- Preparation of technical presentations and reports, including certification reports.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in materials engineering/metallurgy, experience in aviation industry is desired;
- Familiarity with material related EASA CS-E requirements is desired;
- Experience in international environment;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team player;
- Problem solving skills and self-motivation;
- Proficiency in English.
