Scotch Whisky Association
London, United Kingdom
£100,000 + package
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) is the trade body for the Scotch Whisky industry. It is one of Britain’s leading trade associations, with a world-wide reputation. It seeks to advance the global interests and profile of Scotch Whisky, of its Member Companies, and of the industry as a whole; and to sustain Scotch Whisky’s place as the world’s leading high-quality spirit drink and its long-term growth worldwide.
The SWA has decided to upgrade its international engagement by recruiting a new Global Affairs Director to lead the organisation’s engagement with third countries, the EU institutions, and the WTO. This role will be based in London and will lead the Association’s newly planned satellite office there.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Global Affairs Director and his/her team will:
- Work with the UK Government and the Scottish Government to eliminate barriers to the export of Scotch Whisky;
- Influence other governments, the EU, and the WTO, in support of the SWA’s agenda;
- Build and extend the SWA’s network of international-focused contacts and increase its impact;
- Work to establish the SWA as an institution with broader international credibility on the importance of free trade and open markets;
- Manage the Global Affairs team based across London and Edinburgh, with lead operational responsibility for the SWA London office overall.
The SWA is also looking in due course to recruit a small number of experienced International Affairs and Public Affairs specialists to join the newly established London office.
Experience
- Direct professional experience, in government or international institutions, of international relations and work with the EU institutions, preferably with a commercial, economic, or trade flavour.
